At the Y

Pleather!
In search for some pants for the boy, found this at a bargain price of $17.48. I was on cloud nine till a friend bumped me down to earth. "It is not leather, it is pleather!" It is still a great fitting jacket and I love the ruffles on the collar. Plus, no vegans are going to throw blood on me.

Alphabet Chair
Today, we exited through a different gate and found this alphabet chair outside the door. Not sure who the artist is. There was no information with it.

The old couch
Today, the cushions were sent to be upholstered. Remembered to take the picture after the fact.
The couch is 30 years old, made of solid wood, from Ethan Allen, and was purchased for the measely sum of $150 from an upscale neighborhood. Four years ago, it was in excellent condition. The tyke has jumped and bounced on it to heart's content. The cushions have had their fill. Plus, we never liked the pattern much anyways. Time for a makeover.

Parking, pain in the ...
It took me 20 mins to reach the school and 15 minutes to find parking. Hence, the picture of the parking lot.

My PP
This was my PP for the Tx Govt class. I gave it the next morning and got 100 points out of 100. So, it was totally worth spending half a day rehearsing at home.

The pot I potted
This particular Thurs was spent supervising a play date and studying for an essay test on Sat, a PP the same morning and an online quiz later that day. Amidst all the testing and quizzing, decided to take this photo of one of my pots I am so very proud of. Yes, this is the same one from the fireplace mantle.

Lines
Once a week, besides Sat, I have to go to school for an assignment. It is challenging to find a pic every week in a campus of grey buildings and uninspiring grounds. The steps are of the building I go to, not very different from steps from other buildings, though I do like the contrast and the symmetry of the lines.

Cutting Corners
We went upholstery shopping the day after the soup and he was a good sport while I went about getting samples of various fabrics and then deciding on one we had already liked when we walked in. For the record, our choice is not in the pictures. The one above simulates leather or is leather, am not sure. But it was pretty and also came in different shades of red. The title is the name of the shop, a bit cliche' but the prices and the selection are the best in the metroplex.

Big Bowl of Soup
I decided to go with a cup of Thai chicken coconut soup. He decided he wanted the big bowl of noodles and vegetables in broth. I finished mine in no time and had seconds from his big bowl.
Everyone got a free spring roll!

14 hearts for the 4 year old
I am not very crafty. In fact, I suck at it since most crafts require a penchant for neatness and perfection that I lack in volumes. This is as easy as I can do. Some wooden hearts at .47 cents a piece, some clothes pins at $2.35, super glue and adhesive magnetic strip is all it takes to make these refrigerator magnets/ pins. They will be given to each kid in the preschool class of my four year old, who in turn will come home with 13 more gifts.
What for the mommy who sat at night making these? Sticky fingers, a kiss on the cheek and a beautiful smile.

Stir crazy
What does a four year old do after being cooped up in the house for three straight days? He starts shooting with mom's camera.

The morning after the snow stopped falling. Even as I was clicking these pics the snow had started falling off the trees. More pics on FB.

Impulse purchases
On a rainy, windy day I ducked into World Market, because I hadn't been there forever. Picked up the masala dabba for an American neighbor who likes Indian cooking. The green bamboo placemats were on clearance for $2.45 and the stackable glasses for .99 cents ea.

My mantel
It is another rainy day in sunny Tx and instead of taking a picture of the bleak landscape outside I chose this. The painting was bought from a dear friend and the small, pink pot next to the candlesticks is by me.
Rest are gift or knick knacks from store sales and garage sales.

Splash of red
A sculptor in front of the Arts building in my school. The splash of red amidst bland, beige building always makes me feel better not to mention the graceful lines. What do you think it symbolizes?

My reads for the day
Yes, this is what I am reading up on for Sat class. The government is a dry subjecct but my prof makes it very interesting. She taught us US govt last semester and she made it fun too.
I love history anyways and the fact that my history prof is also passionate about what he teaches makes it fun for the whole class.

Cabela's
A hunting store, the store is huge and sells everything from guns to camping equipement.
They have tons of stuff for kids, including an Aquarium, a mock shooting gallery and lots of stuffed animals to look at.
It is sad to see magnificient animals all trussed and stuffed up but it is a last resort option to take a restless toddler on a rainy day, especially since it is five minutes from where we live.

My school
All three of my classes are on Sat but I still have to go at least once a day to school to finish a PE assignment. This photo was taken outside the PE building.
The gorgeous weather in the earlier picture had turned into a chilly one with no sun and it started drizzling later in the day. From gorgeous to crummy in a day, that is Tx weather for you.

A gorgeous day!
It was a gorgeous day yesterday, with warm sun and a nippy wind. We went out for a bike ride and a play date with a friend around the corner.
